Gary and I used to argue about politics in high school, but he was the kindest and most thoughtful person. We spent a very nice day visiting Hearst Castle and Nepenthe during our senior year. I was sorry to hear of his passing.
Gary and I were good friends at Salsipuedes. He had the most beautiful handwriting. We were skipped from fourth to sixth grade together, and kind of had each other's back. We drifted apart in high school, and I never saw him again after graduation. He was a sweet guy. I'm sorry to see he passed.
I met Gary Hyatt when we were freshmen. We had classes together freshman and sophomore years. I think Spanish was his favorite class. He was very intelligent and very quick witted. He signed the comments he wrote in my yearbooks for both of those years, "Senor Alto Sombrero." Death came much too soon for Gary.
Gary was my neighbor in Orchard Park. I would go to his house and he tried to teach me chess. I was probably all about 11 years old when I would go there to visit he is parents and Vicki his sister. I knew all of them pretty well. His father Vern owned the Pajaro Valley food Mart and I would go to the store and I'd see Gary working in the back room. That was also working for my dad when I would see him. And I did see him many years later in Santa Cruz at the catalyst. We reminisce a bit.
