Ron along with John Dorey were my best friends in high school and at Cabrillo. We took all the same classes and all planned to go on to college. Ron and I were both Biology majors. Because of that, we had alot of classes together at Cabrillo. We also ran together on weekends and went to football games, dances and parties together. Ron and I talked about going on to a State University together. We figured that since we would be taking the same classes, we could study together and help each other out. We talked about San Diego State since San Francisco State was full.

In December of our second year at Cabrillo, Ron took an Art Appreciation class. It involved a field trip to San Francisco. On the way home on Highway 1, a car traveling north crossed over the line and struck Ron's car head on. Ron was killed and the girl traveling with him was injured but survived. Returning to school on Monday was very difficult. Everyone was very sad and upset. We all missed his smile and his great sense of humor. I went on to San Jose State, San Diego just didn't seem so attractive anymore.

John Dorey and I were pall bearers at Ron's funeral. He was buried in Watsonville.

I often think of Ron and miss him. He was a great friend and alot of fun to be around.
