I married my bride, Barbara, in 1988 and we have been married 26 years and we have two great kids.

Below is a wonderful letter sent to the Class of 65 from Miguel Melgoza who was one of last year's recipients of the Norm Haney Scholarship for a student who will be the first in their family to attend college.

Please read the letter below and then consider a donation for next year's scholarship! It is never to early to start receiving donations for this really wonderful scholarship that honors Mr. Haney and gives back to our community and to our alma mater Watsonville High School. The donation information is on the right side of the homepage of our website.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Class of 1965 Honoring Norm Haney

Receiving this is such a rewarding form of reassurance. This cemented the fact that every late night I pulled studying for a test, every hour I stayed after school tutorial, every time I kept going after I said I was done, wasn't in vain.

My family always wanted and encouraged me to go to college, they never wanted me to end up working in the fields like themselves, but paying for college was something was as a family, would struggle with. This money just helped our family more than anyone could imagine.

My family could never afford to buy me a laptop. That's why all 4 years I was using the school issued chromebooks. Trying to go through college without one, is a death wish. Thanks to these $2,000 ill be able to buy a laptop and be prepared for UC Davis.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving a kid like me the reassurance he needs to be successful in a top tier university like UC Davis.

Kindly,
Miguel Melgoza

Grandson Nash sitting on Santa's lap with a little uncertainty. One certainty is that we're waiting for grand-daughter "Violet Jean" to join us and make it the best Christmas present! She was due December 10th and it's now like waiting for Santa to come when we were kids!
